Winterton Improvement Network Annual Report - from 1/10/12 to 30/9/2013

The past year has been busier than ever.

Our Taxi Voucher scheme continues to help its members with much needed assistance with transport for medical appointments and also leisure time activities.

Our computer classes have come to an end altogether. Our hopes of resuming classes were totally dashed after North Lincolnshire Council first started duplicating our own classes and finally when the Community Hub decided to provide free IT training.

The Out n’ About magazine has remained popular and has been the only conveyor of “the full story with true facts” as unfortunately the local media and other leaflets writers seem incapable of reporting the truth. Many Winterton residents have made the remark: “Thank God, there is Out n’ About so we can get to know what is really going on!” This is certainly a great accolade for our non-political community magazine.

Our distributors have done a splendid job at keeping issues delivered in good time for various events. We certainly could do with a few more people to cover runs during times of illness or holidays.

We do not have any advertisers in arrears since our policy of payment before insertion has been strictly implemented. All previous bad payers have been pursued and monies recovered.

During the tumultuous year Winterton has gone through, it became necessary to set up a free website www.winoaaiw.weebly.com and a facebook page for WIN. Both are kept updated regularly between magazines. They are very well visited and are useful to put urgent messages re. roadworks, road closures, cancellation of events, etc...

We have been able to assist other groups in the township: Our 42” TV has been donated to the Youth Club and the treadmill is now located at Newport Drive Community Pavilion. We have also pledged a £1000 loan to All Saints Church to help them with cash flow in their renovation project.

It was judged preferable to delay plans for the Town Guide as so many large projects were taking place and the guide would be already out of date by the time it was printed.

The official opening of the Community Pavilion was delayed. Our editor has been requested to be official photographer for the event.

Further recognition came our way when our Editor (Estelle) and our Chair (Nicki) each received The Burgon Award 2013 from Winterton Town Council for work done on behalf of WIN and also Winterton Disabled Club.

It has been suggested that WIN could run a Christmas competition for the best lights displays if there was enough interest from residents.

Finally, many thanks to everyone who has contributed in any way to making WIN a successful organisation.

N Mumby (Mrs) Chair
